It's not a coincidence

It's not a coincidence if it happens to you three times in a row, right?

A couple of Fridays ago, I went with Hubhub to celebrate his, his cousin's, aunt's and mom's birthday. They all have birthdays in November.

We went to Grand Lux Cafe (part of the Cheesecake Factory chain). The first thing I did when I got seated was order a glass of wine.

Once the other people arrived, we ordered a bottle the house red, Ravenswood Merlot. It took a long time for the wine to come. When it finally arrived we went through the whole ritual and the waiter poured the wine and we started drinking it. After about 15 minutes I noticed that the bottle at the table was actually Ravenswood Cabernet Sauvignon, not Merlot. The better wine, I know, but not what we ordered. We let the waiter know, he apologized and said that they wouldn't charge us for the more expensive bottle that was delivered.

Two days later, I was in Dallas with four other friends at Spaghetti Warehouse and we again ordered a bottle of the house red. I can't remember what it was, but it was a $12 bottle of wine of something.

The waiter delivered the wine, ritual and pour and we start drinking the wine. TLRM notices that the bottle on the table isn't the house red but another bottle that's twice the price of the house. She tells the waiter and he graciously tells us that they won't charge us for the more expensive bottle that was delivered.

Four hours later, we're rocking out at the Crowne Plaza (whoo the Big D, y'all!) and we order another bottle of wine. The wine comes, we enjoy and after a while Tiffany goes to pay the tab.

She's takes a while.

When she comes back, she's ticked because they gave and charged us for bottle of wine by the same brand that was twice the price of what we ordered.

What the?

If it happens three times in a row, it's not a coincidence.

Right?

Bait and switch and hope you don't notice. Either what you are drinking or that you will check the bill closely.
